NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON THE SOUTHBOUND I-95 RAMP TO NW 14 STREET ON AUGUST 25
Due to weather, the traffic shift originally scheduled for August 13 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 5:30 a.m.
At that time, southbound I-95 drivers exiting at NW 14 Street will begin using a new exit located slightly east of the current exit. Drivers will shift to the right onto a newly constructed ramp lane, as shown below.
The shift will allow crews to establish a new work zone and continue improvements along S.R. 836 and construction of the new ramps to NW 12 Avenue. In the event of inclement weather, the shift will be performed on Wednesday, August 26.
In order to complete the traffic shift, the southbound I-95 ramp to westbound S.R. 836 will be closed as noted below:
- Monday, August 24 (Tuesday, August 25 is an alternate date) – The southbound I-95 ramp to westbound S.R. 836 will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

- Continue south on I-95
- Exit at SW 7 Street/Brickell Avenue (Exit 1B), then turn left at SW 8 Street
- Enter the northbound I-95 ramp, then access the ramp to westbound S.R. 836

FULL CLOSURE OF SOUTHBOUND I-95 AND THE SOUTHBOUND I-95 RAMP TO EASTBOUND I-395
- Sunday, August 23 – All southbound lanes on I-95 will be closed at S.R. 836 between the hours of 11:45 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. to move a crane across the roadway. The southbound I-95 ramp to eastbound I-395 will also be closed during this time frame.
- Non-Tolled detour route for southbound I-95:
- Exit at the S.R. 836 West Ramp, then exit at NW 14 Street
- Turn left at NW 12 Avenue, then turn left at NW 11 Street
- Turn right at NW 8 Street Road, then turn left at NW 8 Street
- Turn right at NW 3 Court to access the I-95 south ramp after NW 2 Street
- Tolled detour route for southbound I-95:
- Exit at the S.R. 836 West Ramp, then exit at NW 12 Avenue
- Turn left at NW 12 Avenue to access the SR 836 east entrance ramp
- Continue east on S.R. 836 to access the I-95 south ramp
- Non-Tolled detour route for ramp to eastbound I-395:
- Exit at the S.R. 836 West Ramp, then exit at NW 14 Street
- Turn left at NW 12 Avenue, then turn left at NW 11 Street
- Turn right at NW 8 Street Road, then turn left at NW 8 Street
- Continue east on NW 8 Street, then turn left at Biscayne Boulevard to access the A1A North/Miami Beach ramp
- Tolled detour route for ramp to eastbound I-395:
- Exit at the S.R. 836 West Ramp, then exit at NW 12 Avenue
- Turn left at NW 12 Avenue to access the S.R. 836 east entrance ramp
- Continue east on S.R. 836 to access eastbound I-395

I-95 LANE CLOSURES
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Up to two lanes on southbound I-95 from NW 29 Street to NW 8 Street will be closed as needed between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The Friday closures will be implemented between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Up to two lanes on northbound I-95 will be closed as needed from NW 8 Street to NW 29 Street between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The Friday closures will be implemented between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
NW 17 STREET NIGHTTIME FULL CLOSURE UNDER I-95
- Sunday, August 23 through Thursday, August 27 and Sunday, August 30 – All travel lanes on NW 17 Street under I-95 will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. to allow the contractor to work on the bridge over the roadway. Drivers can use NW 20 Street as an alternate route.
I-395 ONGOING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

CLOSURE OF WESTBOUND I-395 AT BISCAYNE BOULEVARD AND THE DOWNTOWN RAMP TO I-395
Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20 – Drivers should expect overnight closures of westbound I-395 and the downtown Miami entrance ramp to I-395 from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to allow crews to safely overlay overhead sign panels.
Westbound I-395 Closure at Biscayne Boulevard Detour:
- Exit at the Biscayne Boulevard ramp, and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard
- Continue south on Biscayne Boulevard, then turn right on NE 6 Street
- Continue east on NE/NW 6 Street and turn left on NW 7 Avenue
- Turn right on NW South River Drive onto NW 7 Street
- Turn right on NW 17 Avenue to access the ramp to westbound S.R. 836
Drivers continuing to I-95 can:
- Exit at the Biscayne Boulevard ramp, and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard
- Continue south on Biscayne Boulevard and turn right on NE 6 Street
- Turn right on NW 3 Avenue to access the NORTHBOUND I-95 RAMP or
- Turn left on NW 3 Court to access the SOUTHBOUND I-95 RAMP

Downtown Ramp to Westbound I-395 Detour:
- Drivers heading north on I-95 can:
- Go north on NE 1 Avenue, then turn left on NE 14 Street
- Turn left on North Miami Avenue, turn right on NW 8 Street
- Turn right on NW 3 Avenue to access the ramp to northbound I-95
- Drivers heading south on I-95 can:
- Go north on NE 1 Avenue, then turn left on NE 14 Street
- Turn left on North Miami Avenue, turn right on NW 8 Street
- Turn left on NW 3 Court to access the ramp to southbound I-95
- Drivers heading west on S.R. 836 can:
- Go north on NE 1 Avenue, then turn left on NE 14 Street
- Continue on west on NW 14 Street, then make a slight left at NW 13 Terrace
- Turn right on NW North River Drive, then turn left on NW 17 Avenue
- Go over the Miami River Bridge and access the ramp to westbound S.R. 836

- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Up to two lanes on mainline westbound I-395 will be closed as needed from Biscayne Boulevard to I-95 between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
FULL CLOSURE OF BISCAYNE BOULEVARD, NE 13 STREET AND SOUTHBOUND NORTH BAYSHORE DRIVE
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – The following closures will be implemented between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for drainage and roadway work. Daytime lane closures will also be necessary at times. The start and end times will be adjusted on special event days.
- All northbound and southbound lanes on Biscayne Boulevard from NE 14 Street to NE 11 Terrace
- All lanes on NE 13 Street from N Bayshore Drive to NE 2 Avenue
- All southbound lanes on North Bayshore Drive from NE 14 Street to NE 13 Street

- Saturday, August 22 – One southbound lane on Biscayne Boulevard will be closed between NE 14 Street and NE 13 Street, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the installation of landscaping.
DAYTIME LANE CLOSURE ON NW 3 AVENUE
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 – The northbound lane on NW 3 Avenue will be closed between NE 13 Street and NE 14 Terrace, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the delivery of bridge beams. Traffic will be flagged around the closure.
DAYTIME CLOSURES OF NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND NORTH BAYSHORE DRIVE
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Both northbound and southbound North Bayshore Drive will be closed as needed between NE 13 Street and NE 14 Street, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for drainage work.
- Southbound detour: Drivers traveling southbound on North Bayshore Drive can turn right on NE 15 Street or NE 14 Street to connect with Biscayne Boulevard.
- Northbound detour: Drivers heading northbound on North Bayshore Drive can turn right on Biscayne Boulevard and then turn right on NE 14 Street to connect with northbound North Bayshore Drive.
LANE CLOSURES ON NE 13 STREET
- Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Two lanes on NE 13 Street will be closed from Biscayne Boulevard to NE 2 Avenue between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for roadway work.

- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – Two westbound lanes on S.R. 836 from I-95 to NW 17 Avenue will be closed as needed for bridge work between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The Friday closures will be implemented between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
COMPLETE CLOSURE OF EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AT NW 17 AVENUE
- Wednesday, August 19 through Friday, August 21 and Sunday, August 23 through Friday, August 28 – All eastbound S.R. 836 travel lanes will be closed at NW 17 Avenue between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The Friday closures will be implemented between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. The start and end times will be adjusted on special event days.
The detours noted below and shown here will be in place to guide drivers around the work area. Drivers on eastbound S.R. 836 will:- Exit at NW 17 Avenue, then continue south across NW 7 Street
- Turn left at SW 1 Street and continue east
- Turn right at South Miami Avenue
- Turn right to access the ramp to I-95 north or south
- Drivers going to Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causeway can continue east on SW 1 Street and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to connect with the MacArthur Causeway entrance ramp at NE 11 Terrace
Drivers on NW 12 Avenue wanting to access eastbound S.R. 836, I-95, Biscayne Boulevard, and the MacArthur Causeway can continue south on NW 12 Avenue, turn left at SW 1 Street, and follow the detours above.
FULL CLOSURE OF WESTBOUND S.R. 836

- Exit at the NW 12 Avenue ramp, then turn left on NW 12 Avenue
- Turn right on NW 7 Street
- Turn right on NW 27 Avenue and continue north to connect with the westbound S.R. 836 ramp
