FULL CLOSURE OF EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AT NW 17 AVENUE
Friday, September 12 – All eastbound S.R. 836 travel lanes will be closed at NW 17 Avenue between 11 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. to work on overhead bridge support structures safely. The detours noted below and shown here will be in place to guide drivers around the work area. Drivers on eastbound S.R. 836 will:
- Exit at NW 17 Avenue, then continue south across NW 7 Street
- Turn left at SW 1 Street and continue east
- Turn right at South Miami Avenue
- Turn right to access the ramp to I-95 north or south
- Drivers going to Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causeway can continue east on SW 1 Street and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to connect with the MacArthur Causeway entrance ramp at NE 11 Terrace
Drivers on NW 12 Avenue wanting to access eastbound S.R. 836, I-95, Biscayne Boulevard, and the MacArthur Causeway can continue south on NW 12 Avenue, turn left at SW 1 Street, and follow the detours above.
SCHEDULE UPDATE: STATE ROAD (S.R.) 968/WEST FLAGLER STREET AND SW 1 STREET BRIDGES NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CHANGE TO THE DRAWBRIDGE OPERATING SCHEDULE
The Florida Department of Transportation is authorized to temporarily deviate from drawbridge operation according to regulation 33 CFR 117.305(b) which governs the SW 1st Street Bridge, mile 0.9, and the West Flagler Street Bridge, mile 1.0, across the Miami River.
Under this temporary deviation, the SW 1st Street and the West Flagler Street Bridges are allowed to operate as follows:
- From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., the bridges will open on the hour and half-hour on Saturday, September 20.
At all other times, the bridges will operate per their normal operating regulation. Public vessels of the United States, tugs and tugs with tow, and vessels in distress shall be passed at any time. This authorization is in support of the S.R. 836 highway closure. The U.S. Coast Guard will announce the temporary change to the bridge operating regulations in the Local Notice to Mariners and via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
SCHEDULE UPDATE: TRAVEL LANE SHIFT ON THE EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AND WESTBOUND I-395 RAMP TO NORTHBOUND I-95
The traffic shift originally scheduled for Friday morning, September 12, could not be completed due to weather. The travel lanes on the eastbound S.R. 836 and the westbound I-395 ramp will now be shifted slightly to the left to the north and south of NW 17 Street on Friday morning, September 19, as noted in the image below.
DAYTIME S.R. 836 LANE CLOSURES
- Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 – One eastbound and westbound lane on S.R. 836 from NW 12 Avenue to I-95 will be closed for sheet pile installation between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
