EXTENDED FULL CLOSURE OF EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AT NW 17 AVENUE AND TEMPORARY CHANGE OF DRAWBRIDGE OPERATION SCHEDULE
Friday, October 2 through Saturday, October 3 – All eastbound S.R. 836 travel lanes will be closed at NW 17 Avenue starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, October 2, until 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, to place the reinforcing steel cage for a bridge support structure over the roadway safely. The detours noted below and shown HERE will be in place to guide drivers around the work area. Drivers on eastbound S.R. 836 will:
- Exit at NW 17 Avenue, then continue south across NW 7 Street
- Turn left at SW 1 Street and continue east
- Turn right at South Miami Avenue
- Turn right to access the ramp to I-95 north or south
- Drivers going to Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causeway can continue east on SW 1 Street and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to connect with the MacArthur Causeway entrance ramp at NE 11 Terrace
Drivers on NW 12 Avenue wanting to access eastbound S.R. 836, I-95, Biscayne Boulevard, and the MacArthur Causeway can continue south on NW 12 Avenue, turn left at SW 1 Street, and follow the detours above.
FULL CLOSURE OF WESTBOUND S.R. 836
All westbound lanes on S.R. 836 will be closed from NW 12 Avenue to NW 17 Avenue starting at 11 p.m. on Friday, October 2 until 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 3. Two lanes will be closed at 10 p.m. Drivers can:
- Exit at the NW 12 Avenue ramp, then turn left on NW 12 Avenue
- Turn right on NW 7 Street
- Turn right on NW 17 Avenue and continue north to connect with the westbound S.R. 836 ramp

S.R. 968/WEST FLAGLER STREET AND SW 1 STREET BRIDGES NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CHANGE TO THE DRAWBRIDGE OPERATING SCHEDULE
The Florida Department of Transportation is authorized to temporarily deviate from drawbridge operation regulation 33 CFR 117.305(b) that governs the SW 1 Street Bridge, mile 0.9, and the West Flagler Street Bridge, mile 1.0, across the Miami River.
Under this temporary deviation, the SW 1 Street and the West Flagler Street Bridges are allowed to operate as follows:
- On Saturday, October 3, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., the bridges will open on the hour and half-hour.
At all other times, the bridges will operate per their normal operating regulation. Public vessels of the United States, tugs and tugs with tow, and vessels in distress shall be passed at any time. This authorization is in support of the S.R. 836 highway closure. The U.S. Coast Guard will announce the temporary change to the bridge operating regulations in the Local Notice to Mariners and via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
WEEKEND DAYTIME S.R. 836 LANE CLOSURES
Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 – One eastbound left lane on S.R. 836 from NW 12 Avenue to I-95 will be closed for bridge foundation work between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Additional weekend work will be scheduled as needed as this work progresses.
Drivers should allow additional travel time and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
