EXTENDED FULL CLOSURE OF EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AT NW 17 AVENUE AND TEMPORARY CHANGE OF DRAWBRIDGE OPERATION SCHEDULE

COMPLETE CLOSURE OF EASTBOUND S.R. 836 AT NW 17 AVENUE
Saturday, July 11 through Sunday, July 12 – All eastbound S.R. 836 travel lanes will be closed at NW 17 Avenue starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 until 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, to safely place formwork for a bridge support structure over the roadway. Additionally, two westbound S.R. 836 lanes will be closed from NW 12 Avenue to NW 17 Avenue between 11:45 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The detours noted below and shown here will be in place to guide drivers around the work area. Drivers on eastbound S.R. 836 will:
- Exit at NW 17 Avenue, then continue south across NW 7 Street
- Turn left at SW 1 Street and continue east
- Turn right at South Miami Avenue
- Turn right to access the ramp to I-95 north or south
- Drivers going to Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causewaycan continue east on SW 1 Street and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard to connect with the MacArthur Causeway entrance ramp at NE 11 Terrace
Drivers on NW 12 Avenue wanting to access eastbound S.R. 836, I-95, Biscayne Boulevard, and the MacArthur Causeway can continue south on NW 12 Avenue, turn left at SW 1 Street, and follow the detours above.
STATE ROAD (S.R.) 968/WEST FLAGLER STREET AND SW 1 STREET BRIDGES NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CHANGE TO THE DRAWBRIDGE OPERATING SCHEDULE
The Florida Department of Transportation is authorized to temporarily deviate from drawbridge operation according to regulation 33 CFR 117.305(b) which governs the SW 1 Street Bridge, mile 0.9, and the West Flagler Street Bridge, mile 1.0, across the Miami River.
Under this temporary deviation, the SW 1st Street and the West Flagler Street bridges are allowed to operate as follows:
- From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., on Sunday, July 12, the bridges will open on the hour and half-hour.
At all other times, the bridges will operate per their normal operating regulation. Public vessels of the United States, tugs, tugs with tow, and vessels in distress shall be passed at any time. This authorization is in support of the S.R. 836 highway closure. The U.S. Coast Guard will announce the temporary change to the bridge operating regulations in the Local Notice to Mariners and via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
